For those of you who are surprised to find me writing the email on “Technology Tuesday” – don’t panic! We promise that on upcoming Tuesdays Tim will continue to share his wealth of knowledge on technology issues. To give Tim an occasional Tuesday break, we’ve decided that I will periodically review a website of interest on Technology Day.
If you were to ask me to recommend a website of interest to theologically progressive Christians, I would, of course, recommend this website! On our links page you will find suggestions of websites of interest.
Then, because I believe that we all benefit from multiple sources of information and because I acknowledge that one website cannot cover everything, I would also recommend that you check out The Center for Progressive Christianity (TCPC).
TCPC was organized fifteen years ago and has grown into a valuable web-based resource. On this site you will find numerous articles, book reviews and sermons on a variety of topics including Spiritual Exploration and Practice and Interfaith Issues and Dialogue (just to name two of their eight categories). A calendar of events highlights upcoming programs of interest around the country. The Directory of Affiliates and Regional Networks pages will help you identify progressive Christian organizations and groups in your geographical area.
I suggest setting aside a significant chunk of time to browse the TCPC website. While the information found here is valuable, the quantity of information can feel overwhelming. A good starting place is the “8 Points”. These statements define TCPC’s understanding of progressive Christianity. The accompanying study guide and discussion questions would be appropriate for a study group interested in learning more about progressive Christianity.
