Every day I have a choice.
Mumble, grumble,
force myself out of bed,
focus on the negative,
complain about the weather,
nag at the kids,
nag at the spouse,
yell at somebody,
sigh at the pets,
make a “to do” list,
trudge through the errands,
try to ignore the chores,
hurry through work,
curse the interruptions,
no time to play,
little time for friends,
long for a day off,
worry about tomorrow.
or…
Stretch, pray,
thank God for a new day,
focus on the positive,
see what surprises Mother Nature has in store,
pray through the newspaper,
thank God for my kids,
thank God for my spouse,
pray for patience,
enjoy the pets,
make a “to experience” list,
be thankful that I can run my own errands,
recognize the blessing of having chores to do,
pray for those who are in need of work,
view interruptions as opportunities,
take time to play,
make time for friends,
live in this moment,
thank God for this day.
Most days I live somewhere in between.
